Dr. Leslie Miller, a leading heart failure cardiologist who has been involved in the field of Mechanical Circulatory Support for over 30 years, reviews the evolution of LVADs used today. In this video he describes some of the early devices used for LVAD therapy and the milestones that have occurred which have allowed the field to progress. He discusses different LVAD device generations as well as the basic differences in function that are characteristic to each generation of pump. In addition, Dr. Miller provides a glimpse into the future of the field with a description of devices that are being developed for future application.
