Country Living & Generator Power
Mon, 06/17/2013 - 2:32PMI am not an LVAD recipient as of now. I have been told that I could be as soon as 6-9 months. In preparation I have been researching the LVAD hardware, clothing, care and maintenance. I am sure you all know the issues.
In any case, we live about 15 miles out of town in a forested region. One of the disadvantages of living here are power outages.
My question is can the LVAD be powered with generator power? Maybe I should be asking the HeartmateII manufacturer this question.
If any one knows the answer, thanks for responding.

The Battery charger and the overnight power module are simple 110 outlets
You will be asked to have a dedicated 110 outlet installed
Also keep in mind that you will be provided with 4 sets (8 BATTERIES) of batteries which if all fully charged will provide 40+ hours if needed
You should also plan to set up the Power Module so that you can move between you bed and bathroom (the cord is 18 to 20 feet long)
