My 17 year old son just found out he needs an LVAD as bridge treatment to a transplant. He is not happy about it. Are there any other young people on here with an LVAD? Any advice?
My grandson is 18 and just got his LVad 6 months ago, hoping for a bridge to recovery. He had complications with his heart attack on his left side. Amputated left leg and his left hand doesn't work. Boy I wish it was just his heart.
Yes my grandson is 18 hoping to have his LVad explanted. If anyone has researched LVad explanting please post. Where is the best place to have it explanted and who is the best doctor.. My grandson had complications, had to have AKA and his left hand doesn't work real good. He is walking good with the prosthesis but is very depressed. He had his heart attack Nov 4, 2015.
I am 31, got my lvad 4 years ago. For a young guy, it is a big lifestyle change. I love working on old trucks, but I am limited in what I can do now. Watching my friends drink and play in the pool, its all tough. But life goes on, I travel often, met a woman and got married, been to Europe with my lvad, etc. Its not the end of the world. Not getting it would be the end of the world for him. Chin up
