LVAD Clothing

This is my first post. My husband has had his LVAD for five weeks now, and I want to share this web site with you all for making your life easier with a LVAD. My husband is so grateful to discover how this shirt gave him freedom to do daily life activities. Take a peek and see if it is something you think might work for you or your loved one. https://lvadgear.com/

You can also look at heartmate shirts - cheaper and "lighter" alternative. I think it's cool because it is underwear that can hide pump better than other products that are available.

My husband has 3 of the shirts. He really likes them. Every one is different in the way they want to handle their batteries and such, but he likes this shirt from lvad gear.

My husband got his VAD back in May and we tried multiple things to hold his equipment and he didn’t love any of it. We then discovered Under Armour’s compression girdle. It’s basically long spandex underwear. It has multiple pockets to hold his batteries and controller. And they’re way cheaper than anything that has LVAD attached to it. They’re usually $30 pair but Dick’s sporting goods website has been running them for $15 a pair. He says they’re extremely comfortable too.

Thanks to everyone for sharing what you discover. It helps our family tremendously.

Hello, I have had my lvad (HM3) for about 3 mos., and have been back to work for a couple of weeks. I just wanted to share these 2 shirt manufacturers. One holds batteries and controller, the other holds batteries only, and I use my belt slid through the strap holder for the controller. lvadshirt.com, etsy.com .

There are many options out there for clothing. I also use the UA girdle. Comes in extremely handy when playing golf. I also have several inexpensive vests that I have purchased off of amazon. But, my go to wear is usually my cargo shorts/pants. I put a battery in each pant pocket and the controller in the cargo pocket. I tie the cords together with a Velcro tie and loop it through a belt loop. Pull my shirt down and it only leaves about six inches of cords visible that could theoretically get caught on anything. Have some of the shirts that hold batteries but quite honestly they are not comfortable and make a slender person look like the hulk!

My hubby has his Heart Mate II since August 2015. He first tried all the gear from the original LVAD equipment, but didn´t liked it at all (too hard, too uncomfortable, too restrictive/unflexible). He wears his controller in a Flip Belt (running gear, a sleek , very stretchy and comfy belt) and his batteries in the inner pockets of a a lightweight fleece vest . We have found some useful things in the "combat gear " section on Amazon, too (Combat/military belts with attachable pockets, H-harnesses etc.)- well it IS a combat, isn´t it ?
