Hello- My 53 year old brother needs an LVAD implant and has no immediate family nearby. Both myself and my other brother do not live close, have full time jobs and families. What are the options for him to have either a full time LVAD trained nurse at his home or enter a rehab until he's comfortable with the device?

Hey , I think you should take help of health care centres where they have reliable and trustworthy staff that includes caregivers and nurses available 24/7 to help them with their home health needs and health concerns . This would be the best place for your brother . One of my friends recommended me Home health care broward county few months back for my grandmother .

It would be better to take help of home health care centre where you can easily get nurses and care-takers to look after your brother . I've heard good reviews about Royal care health care centre .They also deliver other recreational facilities . View more in detail.

Apparently, support requirements vary from medical institution to another. At Hospital of University of Pennsylvania (HUP) where my procedure was completed, availability of assistance 24/7 for 4 to 6 weeks after discharge is a factor in considering the LVAD implant. I could find no facility that would provide at home attendance - apparently a liability issue. There are residential nursing facilities which would provide support, but HUPs protocol precludes the facilities when considering LVAD viability for the patient. Has to be a committed family member or friend. My brother was fortunate enough to be able to take a leave of absence to support me. Now that I am home and continuing recovery, I have friends and neighbors who check on me, now that my brother has returned home. HUP did work with us diligently to get arrangements that would satisfy everyone. I would check with the medical institution to determine their protocol requisites.
