anesthesia procedure pre LVAD implant

hello all, I am working on a television production where one of our characters undergoes surgery to have an LVAD implanted. Given we want to accurately depict this procedure on screen, I was hoping to gain some advice on what the pre op process involved (mainly, when undergoing antithesis process post op. what did that involve? were you hooked up to an IV drip or was it a gas mask?) thank you in advance for your help.
