LVAD Caregiver Support - Nassau County, LI, NY
Wed, 11/20/2013 - 8:12AMMy sister will be having an LVAD implanted in early December. Her situation is a little different because she had 2 strokes in early October and her right hand is thus far not working (she is left-handed, fortunately, but it is still a major problem).
She will be living with our Mom, who will be her primary caregiver. I will be helping as much as possible, but I can't afford to leave or lose my job and I commute about an hour each way. My partner will also be available on a limited basis, as will one friend. But my sister will always have to have someone VAD-trained on-hand for the foreseeable future, and we can't cover 24/7.
Does anyone know of any resources (agencies or individuals) in NW Nassau County, please?
